Roberto Macrì is a Sicilian-born pianist, keyboardist, and producer whose musical identity seamlessly blends classical virtuosity, jazz sensitivity, and a deep fascination for contemporary production and sound design.
Born in Sicily, he began playing piano at the age of four, setting in motion a path that would lead him to become one of the most versatile and multifaceted voices of today’s Italian and European music scene.
He earned his classical piano diploma with highest honors, full marks, and a special distinction. He later continued his studies with some of the greatest Italian piano teachers.
Drawn to the freedom and harmonic richness of improvisation, he gradually developed a strong passion for jazz. He approached the genre initially on his own before studying with Barry Harris, Ramberto Ciammarughi, and Stjepko Gut. He later earned his Jazz Piano Diploma from the “A. Scarlatti” Conservatory in Palermo, again graduating with full marks and special mention.
Over the years, he has collaborated with numerous leading figures of the Italian jazz scene.
Alongside his classical and jazz trajectory, Macrì cultivated a profound interest in electronic music, computer-based composition, and audio engineering.
In 2018, he completed his Master’s Degree in Sound and Entertainment Engineering at the University of Rome — Tor Vergata with highest honors. He has since been active as a music producer, arranger, and songwriter for a variety of projects and artists, expanding his artistic palette beyond the acoustic world.
His touring life has taken him across Italy — from Milan, Turin, and Genoa to Palermo, Catania, and Verona — and internationally to the United States, Colombia, Austria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Since 2017, he has been a member of the Dutch symphonic metal band MaYaN, performing throughout Europe and the Americas at major festivals including ProgPower USA, Masters of Rock (CZ), Metal on the Hill (AT), and Dokk’em Open Air (NL).
In parallel, he continues to develop his own artistic projects: MACRÌ, the avant-pop/classical duo with his sister Laura Macrì — with whom he has toured internationally and released original music — as well as his Jazz Piano Solo and Piano Trio projects. Over the years, he has sustained a vibrant concert schedule, performing with artists such as Nick The Nightfly, Sarah Jane Morris, Alexander Beets, Owen Hart Jr., Elio (from Elio E Le Storie Tese), Giovanni Falzone and many others.
Moving fluidly between acoustic piano, keyboards, electronic textures, orchestration, and contemporary production, Roberto Macrì embodies a modern, cross-genre musical approach. His work reflects an ongoing exploration of sound — one that honors tradition while embracing innovation, spontaneity, and the ever-evolving landscape of today’s music.
